Dear ESBCHS Families,
On behalf of our staff, I wish all our families a fantastic Spring Break! We hope you enjoy some quality time together, hopefully accompanied by some beautiful spring weather, whether you are staying local or travelling near or far.
When classes resume, we strongly encourage all of our students to refocus and work hard academically through to the end of the school year. To support this strong finish, we will be holding our Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, April 9th (4:30-8:00 pm). This is a great opportunity to check in with your child's teachers and review their progress, as all marks will be up to date. Please note that the online parent sign-up link below will close on Tuesday, April 7th at 4:00 pm.
On a related note regarding academic progress, over the past few weeks, our staff has noticed a significant increase in challenges surrounding academic integrity on coursework and exams. We are seeing instances of students attempting to gain an unfair advantage or presenting outside work as their own. To be clear and concise about our expectations, academic misconduct includes:
- Plagiarism: Submitting work that is not entirely your own, which includes the unauthorized use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Collusion: "Helping a friend" by sharing files, test content, or answers. In these cases, both the student sharing the work and the student receiving it are held equally responsible.
- Cheating & Intent: Using unauthorized assistance during exams, including the severe violation of secretly keeping a hidden electronic device on your person during an assessment.
We appreciate your partnership in discussing the importance of honesty and academic integrity with your child.
Have a safe, restful, and wonderful Spring Break!
Sincerely,
Sean Flanagan
Principal
