Complementary Courses

ESBCHS offers a wide range of courses at the high school level to give you a chance to explore your areas of interest and even discover a future career path!

Complementary courses are broken down into Fine Arts, Second Languages, CTS (Career and Technology Studies), and other complementary courses that do not fall into the above categories.

Grade 9 Complementary Courses Grading Scale

Grade 9 complementary courses are now using outcome-based grading using the following grading scale:

S – Satisfactory – Acceptable and generally consistent achievement of outcomes; evidence shows generally accurate understanding and with some support needed during work.

P – Proficient – Skillful and mostly consistent achievement of outcomes; evidence shows solid understanding and occasionally guided work habits.

L – Limited – Partial and inconsistent achievement of outcomes; evidence shows inaccurate understanding and ongoing support is needed during work.

I – Insufficient – Insufficient evidence to assess. The work must be improved and resubmitted.

E – Exemplary – Exemplary and consistent achievement of outcomes; evidence shows in-depth understanding and independent work habits.

Grade 9 complementary courses are not included in Honours calculations.
